People have a bad taste in their mouth because of bollywood and their portrayal of both Pakistanis and Muslims in general.
They incorrectly assume this translates to other media bases which is mostly untrue, but perceived because places like Hollywood chose Indian actors to play Pakistani characters and it becomes dead obvious because of their broken urdu.
He’s a great actor, and I’m just glad Pakistan is finally bring represented by its people’s ideals and way of life.
Spoiler: He has great character and its his honesty and trust that results in his death after someone cheats him out of a deal

I am actually on Episode 2 and i really like his acting..Many Pakistanis are saying that because they don’t want to be represented by an indian. I guess those people want to have their own identity which is pakistani and they want their own people to represent themselves. It’s just a movie or netflix series so i personally don’t care.

I’m sure there are thousands of pakistani actors who would love to have a role playing a pakistani person. There’s many 2 pakistani actors in all of hollywood. But I don’t think many know korean so you have a point.
I do think it’s great south asians are getting some representation outside of IT and terrorism. I see some k-pop stans going crazy about Anupam so that’s great

Not a huge deal. Plus the requirements of the role were very specific. They wanted someone fluent in Urdu and Korean and the actor who Played Ali Abdul lived in Korea for years apparently. How many Pakistanis know Korean?

This happens all the time but most people don’t even notice. Just one random example is an Indian American actor played a Pakistani Muslim actor in the Walking Dead. I think his name was Sideeq in the show.
